Gatwick North or South Terminal? A Quick Guide From Redditch
Gatwick North or South Terminal? It’s one of the most common questions we get, because the two terminals are separate buildings with separate drop-off forecourts. Here’s how to make sure you end up at the right one.
Which airlines use each terminal?
- North Terminal: easyJet, which has moved all its Gatwick flights there.
- South Terminal: British Airways short-haul, plus many long-haul, holiday and charter airlines.
However, Gatwick moves airlines between terminals more often than most airports, and several new airlines have arrived for 2026. So always check the terminal on your booking or the airline's app a day or two before you fly.
Why it matters for your transfer
Cars can't drive straight from one forecourt to the other. Instead, they have to rejoin the road network, which can add several minutes. That's why we ask for your flight number when you book: it lets us head straight for the right terminal.
The free inter-terminal shuttle
If you do end up at the wrong terminal, don't panic. A free shuttle train links the North and South terminals and takes only a few minutes. In other words, a mix-up costs you a little time rather than your flight.
Drop-off and pick-up charges
At the time of writing (October 2026), Gatwick charges drivers £10 for up to ten minutes in the drop-off zones at both terminals. With Airport Taxi, though, airport drop-off and pick-up charges are included in your fare, so there's nothing extra to pay.
On the way home, we track your flight, and there is no waiting charge if it's delayed. Once you've collected your luggage, give your driver a call and they'll direct you to the meeting point. Alternatively, ask for a meet and greet inside arrivals when you book.
How long does it take from Redditch?
Gatwick is around 150 miles from Redditch, usually via the M40 and M25. In normal traffic the drive takes around 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours. Because the M25 can be unpredictable, we always add a comfortable margin, especially for morning flights.
